Comments Needed for Proposed Architectural Insulation Materials Standard

Green Seal released a proposed standard for Architectural Insulation Materials (GS-54) Feb. 3, as well as the rationale for the standard and a review of thermal insulation products.

Green Seal is asking for comments on the proposed standard to ensure the requirements provide an accurate reflection of the environmental leadership products that are available in today’s insulation market. Manufacturers, facility managers, consumer groups, health and environmental groups, and other interested parties are encouraged to comment. The public comment period will be open until March 31. Commenters must register and will receive updates and news about the standard.

The new standard is being developed to help purchasers identify and choose insulation products that are better for the environment, as well as to guide manufacturers in the design of insulation products. The standard will be the basis for determining which products in this category will be certified by Green Seal.

A response to all comments received will be published on Green Seal’s website and the final standard will be published in subsequent weeks. To register and comment, visit collaborase.com/gs-54-development.
